      I saw the effects of gun violence first hand during my 12 yrs as sheriff of Lake Co. I can tell you, without a doubt, the problem isn't the lack of #guncontrol legislation, the problem is the improper focus of the legislation. Legal gun owners are not the problem! #ILSen #Twill

      But what of the gunmen in mass shooting incidents who bought their weapons legally? Or the guns purchased legally and then used in domestic violence cases? These are legal gun owners who WERE the problem. What's the solution?

      Let us also remember that the majority of gun crimes are not committed with semi-automatic rifles. They're committed with handguns.
