    Nice summary, but one that doesn't really see the lack of competition as a problem. How is the two-party system working out for you?? , used by Maine is one approach that allows more viable choices on the ballot.

    It also looks like Alaska voters will probably approve an initiative implementing ranked choice voting + a nonpartisan primary where the top 4 candidates advance. Could give Murkowski more leeway to behave as a de facto independent.

    I see no call from an outlet, but; Alaska's ranked-choice voting initiative is up 3.2K with only 7K ballots left, *and* a quarter of what's left are from one very blue district, *and* most of what's left is mail-in ballots which have skewed significantly for the YES.

    Tired of feeling like politics is war? New Zealand shows a way forward -- by switching to using proportional representation in the 1990s, they have increased consensual decision-making and reduced hostility in national politics. If they can do it, we can do it.

    Researchers studied 821,442 MP speeches in New Zealand from 1987-2016, both before & after NZ switched to PR in 1996 They found a marked decrease in the anger & hostility expressed by MPs, particularly from those in government (TLDR: PR allows politicians to act like grown-ups)
