The rule before us for the D.C. statehood bill is no ordinary rule. It is the prelude to passage of a historic bill, and I use these words advisedly. #DCStatehood #Rule #LastSteppic.twitter.com/oEnFmEDJ0v

Uhhh... Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution??? Have Maryland and Virginia given their consent? That's their land.

Let’s keep up the good work and move forward. I would really love to see our mayor becomes the “governor of DC”

The proposed name for the state "Washington, Douglass Commonwealth" is inelegant. I suggest naming the state simply "Douglass" for Frederick Douglass.

so, what would be the name of the new state? DC? Columbia? East Washington? Washington East? North Virginia? South Maryland? New Washington?

Let’s get input from the Twitter world. How would statehood change DC besides Congress. More taxes? Less taxes? Just a star on the flag? Change to gun laws? @councilofdc having more rule without input from the public? Would anything really change? Serious questions people....

I wasn’t born in DC, but I consider DC my home where I belong. Your home is where your heart is. I’m all in for anything that makes DC stronger and better. The Congress representation is huge. But also, the level of independence that one sees with other states is missing for DC.
