The House-passed #HeroesAct was a trifecta for DC: retroactive fix to DC’s #CARESAct loss of $755 million; fiscal relief for DC at the state, city + county levels, an acknowledgement #DC provides state, city and county services; & option to participate in Federal Reserve funding.
In the #CARESAct, Senate Republicans and the White House intentionally shortchanged #DC, defying precedent by treating DC as a territory rather than as state for funding. I pledged to fight to retroactively make DC whole in future bills, and the #HeroesAct does exactly that.
Recognizing that #DC operates like the states, the #HeroesAct includes $1.5b in state funds, $740m in city funds and $264m in county funds for the District for fiscal relief this year for a total of $2.5 billion. #DCStatehood
