Last week, @RepJimBanks introduced a bill that would make DC use local funds to pay for private schools. Congress has repeatedly rejected private school vouchers nationally, yet Banks hypocritically would impose them on my district. Won’t happen, Jim. #HandsOffDC

@eleanornorton, I'm sorry we haven't had the chance to meet on the House floor, but I'm disappointed to learn you aren't as interested in preventing bullying in schools as I am. It's clear you didn't read my bill. That's too bad... -
...It gives parents options to help children being bullied or facing violence in school such as therapy, safe transportation & more... I should also note that the Constitution gives Congress jurisdiction over DC. It is why I vote and you do not.

Teen suicides are also a major issue in DC. Providing students with safety in their education would help eliminate some of these tragedies.

Helping students who are be it bullied and victims of violence escape those situations so they can concentrate on learning instead of safety should be of utmost importance to all legislators.

You’re right Rep. Norton. As far as Mr. Banks serving his own constituents...he doesn’t. He refuses to meet with the people in the biggest city in his district because there are too many people of color!
