HISTORY Making Day: With the passage of #HR1, the US House of Representatives today officially endorsed #DCstatehood for the first time in American history. This vote sets the stage for consideration of HR 51, the Washington, D.C. Admission Act, which already has 200 cosponsors.

Marvelous to witness and celebrate history w/ local advocates in the Capitol and “America’s Voting Rights Champion” (my pops’ college roommate) @RepJohnLewis. On to Senate and for @POTUS’ signature; #MAGA includes the righteous effort to #LiberateDC with #DCStatehood. @MsFreeDCpic.twitter.com/lQY8IxWrKW – at United States Capitol Building

Also honored to meet @TulsiGabbard in the Capitol halls today (sadly without my camera handy...) and thank her personally for her awesome support to #LiberateDC with #DCStatehood. #Aloha!pic.twitter.com/qL4m4HXNig – at US Capitol Flag Office

Even though the #ForthePeopleAct is important #ElectionReform, many politicians, elected using the current system, have no incentive to vote for H.R. 1. They are owned by Black money, PACs, and corporate donors. They owe their elections to gerrymandering and voter suppression.

Republican members of Congress, even those who are not "owned" by donors and lobbyists, have even less reason to support H.R. 51 which would essentially add another "blue state."

The downtown area comprising the Federal area should remain as the District, the remaining area should be returned to The State of Maryland. DC statehood is a ridiculous idea!

Granting statehood to a volcanic island archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean was once a ridiculous idea.
