I've been looking for a correct definition of p values in textbooks... and no wonder everyone has trouble with this. Most of the definitions are straight up wrong. Here follows a list of incorrect examples:

New preprint with where we make the case for machine readable hypothesis tests . We give a real-life example, argue this would improve the rigour and falsifiability of hypothesis tests, as well as facilitate the re-use of key info in articles.

Tomorrow, my 8th and favourite lecture of the term, is when I convince 140 students in my "Cognition" class that the primary reason we have brains is to make complex, adaptable movements.

I have an email folder labeled "NO" where I put all of the things I say no to and feel bad about. Then when I am feeling overwhelmed I look in the folder and remember that it would be much worse if I had said yes to those things. And then I feel slightly better.

Reminder: 🔹There are ECRs who don't use R/Python and document their analysis pipelines amazingly well. 🔹Reproducibility should be encouraged among ECRs in a supportive and not exclusive manner.

When I was a young woman, my French aunt shared with me her secret of elegance: After you’ve dressed and put on your jewelry, take a critical look in the mirror and remove at least one piece. Later in life, I discovered that this formula also applies to the Specific Aims page.
