    Today is the 20th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history: September 11th, 2001. I mourn for the victims, their loved ones, & first responders affected. I’m also reminded of how for me & so many others, 9/11 was a renewed call to service, to protect each other.

    I brought my daughter to get her first COVID-19 vaccine shot on the first day she could get it, her 12th birthday. I really encourage other parents do that too and I am proud that Violette plans to be an example to her classmates to do the same.

    The evacuation that’s going on is very dangerous and it is changing hour by hour. We must get American citizens, our allies, and those Afghans who supported us over 20 years out and get them to safety. We need to get out as many people as we can.
