Fellow authors, creatives... do you think it's wise to tweet your policital opinions using your author/creative twitter account, or should you keep politics out of your creative timeline? Do you think it might lose you followers, readers, even work, or hurt your cause?

.. and I guess the second part to that question is, would it bother you that you might be losing sales or followers or hurting your cause by being political? Because we all have our views, but does it always help to air them in public? I don't know, TBH.

I've gone from tweeting political stuff to not tweeting it. At the moment I'm tweeting it, hard not to in these times! The majority of the responses I've received seem to suggest most ppl appreciate openness, rather than hiding your views. It's been interesting to read them all!

I suppose that hinges on how you use your twitter account and what your followers expect. Do they expect to hear your personal opinions and thoughts or will they feel they have subscribed for one reason (your creative content) and now are getting something "off topic"?

Good point! We're all different, after all - some of us keep our personal opinions to ourselves in order not to potentially alienate followers, some of us are more up-front and 'take me as you find me'. I guess also depends on what your business/cause is.

I’d like to know in advance if somebody wants me or my criends & family dead before I give them money.

Frankly I wouldn't want to give a penny to someone who wanted me dead- the problem, perhaps, is knowing who might wish such a terrible thing on me... ;-)

I'm transgender. *Existing* puts politics into everything I do. I don't get the option of keeping my political "opinions" out of my public persona, because I myself am considered political. Sometimes it seems it might be nice to have that option, but I guess this is simpler?

Sometimes I share politics with the intention of running off people I consider "undesirable." I'll tolerate no boot-licking fascist in my fanbase. But, I tend to treat my Twitter as a rant-blog because I don't produce content regularly enough anyway.
