To find out why the Charities Regulator blocked me after I commented on their Maser action v inaction on fake pro-life “charities” on Facebook, I sent an FOI and Subject Access Request. They refused FOI but I got SAR. In it were these 2 screenshots. No explanation why though? 🤔

  5. The department promoting the government’s transparency agenda “may” republish some previously public submissions on the Data Sharing Bill. Shortage of space on the internet, I think.

There's a grim feedback loop here too: allocating resources to surveillance schemes combined with the belief that they are a magic fix for crime leads to less actual police, which means less crime prevention, which leads to more calls for magic surveillance solutions. 🙄

The Data Protection Commissioner is auditing use of public CCTV and has published a draft list of activities requiring a DPIA which strongly indicates concerns about CCTV. Fianna Fáil: cut “red tape”, more CCTV. Criminals are “navigating” the red tape (what?).

The new "Data Governance and Sharing Bill" is really a trojan horse to make the 'Public Services Card' compulsory. This is not an appropriate or legal way to bring in a national identity register and card, without proper debate or precautions.

I cannot explain why they have not updated this document, but their correspondence with me states that the policy is that a PSC is the "primary item" of ID - a certified copy driving licence is also acceptable.

In case you missed it, this week had confirmation from the Passport office that they-actually, when they thought about it- didn’t require his client to have a PSC after all to get a passport. So that’s both the and reversing PSC requirement

Consider this from Future Health Summit a few weeks ago. Then consider the Data Sharing and Governance Bill. Where will your health data be in five years and will it be protected?
