#FossilGas is not the answer to our Covid recovery, it’s not an option if we care for our kids futures.

Now imagine that at every hole drilled. That is enormous.

Gas is a FOSSIL FUEL and even H2 added to the supply is likely to be a product by FOSSIL FUEL processing. CO2 is the inevitable, unavoidable output.

Fossil biomass.

Plus methane emissions at time of extraction

Fugitive emissions from pipelines, transport, at the wellhead, through groundwater and from the condensers are real reasons to
#stopcsg and shout#nofrackingway to this polluting, fossil fuel bush industrialising soil compacting stygofauna killing group. https://www.tai.org.au/sites/default/files/PB%2041%20Measuring%20fugitive%20emissions%20-revised_4.pdf … - Show replies

Just to balance the "discussion", the article is about methane, not gas in a general format. Methane can be renewable. It can be produced via a bio reactor. If burn, it can produce, water, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. 2nd order effect of water and hydrogen are beneficial too.
-
Yes but if we continue to use a supply system that is leaky we are risking disaster. Hydrogen would be safer in this respect

Instead of applying false "binary" dichotomy, i.e. cancel mentality, how about applying some critical thinking and innovation to find a way to utilize a potential resource.
-
If you can think of a way of taking captive carbon fossil fuel and using to produce energy, but not add CO2 to the atmosphere, then bravo. Cos no-one else has found a way to do that, apart from hugely uneconomic CCS.
