There has been some lazy criticism that I did not write about Scott Alexander directly in Neoreaction a Basilisk. I trust this 12,500 word essay in which I accuse him of contributing to multiple people’s deaths will address this issue.https://twitter.com/EruditorumPress/status/1363068029953835008 …

It's good but... >the New York Times done it in the article on him, which obviously they didn’t because they’re a professional news organization with basic editorial practices like quote approval, not a crackpot blog that keeps giving cover to fucking nazis. This is wrong.pic.twitter.com/37XQZoVcD7

They’re not a crackpot blog that repeatedly gives cover to nazis, they’re a respected journalistic institution that repeatedly gives cover to nazis and that’s a completely different thing.

thank you so much for writing this, as someone who has long since drifted away from slatestarcoder, but was never able to articulate exactly what was so off-putting and wrong about it this was an incredibly cathartic and helpful read

Great essay. Looking at his comment section made it clear that he was dogwhistling a tune a simply didn’t hear or maybe worm grunting a rhythm I couldn’t feel. Either way you don’t get an audience that bad by accident.

Thank you for writing this. I was disappointed at the articles you chose because I thought they were some of Scott's weakest, but I had missed half the problems you point out, which makes me seriously reassess whether any of his stuff is worthwhile.

I picked one of his most popular and one of his most controversial, which seemed like a good spread.

20% of the way through and I'm struck by how much, among other things, it's clear that Scott is not used to having his work reviewed by an editor and *could also really use an editor*

(Not calling you an editor, just saying that it's clear that this is someone who is used to being "unfiltered", and not in way that benefits the quality of his writing)

somewhat besides the point but it irritates me that he's saying "oh the British and Irish became super chummy during WW2" when this is historically incorrecthttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_neutrality_during_World_War_II …
