No they were appointed by those representative of the minority of Americans. That's a broken system.

So you’re against the electoral college then is that your complaint? It isn’t a broken system. It’s actually a pretty good system overall.

The electoral college system also needs reform. When branches of government are not representative of the makeup of the society they serve that's wrong. That shouldn't even be a debate.

The electoral college gives representation to every state. It’s still reflective of population, it just doesn’t allow the large population of one state to trump the voice of another. You should be thankful we have it.

The electoral college has nothing to do with the senate. You do know that right?

I didn’t say it did. I stated the point that different states have different needs and while we do allow states with higher populations a higher number of electoral votes, smaller states still have a voice by the electoral college. The EC is quite brilliant actually.

That's why you have a Congress. The electoral college allowed someone who was voted by the minority to take control. That's broken. It could have easily done the same again.

No, it’s not broken. It works precisely how it is supposed to by giving smaller states a voice and not allowing states with larger populations to dictate the needs of the country based on their own needs. Congress is an entirely different branch of government.

You think the minority should elect the President?

I think the electoral votes based on the populations of the state regions of the United States should elect the president. Simple majority isn’t sufficient. That’s the essence of having a republic as we do.
