I think he was a trigger that unleashed a firestorm which Fox News was building for years. They saw how easily anti-govt talk post-Waco and bigotry post-9/11 kindled their base and they stoked it relentlessly from then on. This clown just added a slogan. Not so dumb after all.
Oh he definitely tapped into the nasty underbelly of society. The horrific thing is that it turned out to be so big.
