He owes hundreds of thousands to cities which hosted his rallies. You don't think he'd leave money owing elsewhere?

I'm certain he would. I understand who he isn't and who he is. I'm just saying I don't think any money he owes to China is effecting his decision making.

I'd hope that was the case but so many far smaller things do. You make a good point though.

Thanks. I don't know where you're from, but in America people know the guy is a bullshitter and basically a sleazy used-cars salesman. They care about his policies and the results he gets that previous establishment, polished politicians didn't get done.

The UK. Many of my American friends and myself see his Presidency as an erosion of American values. His nationalist and I'm afraid xenophobic attitudes are anathema. He's like subsidence under a house. His achievements were inheriting an upward moving economy and bear market.

Well in the UK, reading your media outlets, you never get an accurate depiction of America and it's politics. As to nationalism versus globalism it's a balance in our transformed world. And at this moment globalism has gutted our country.

I read and watch much American output. I also watch as much raw output as possible untainted by spin or editorialising. My view on the current administration is based on that. My conclusion is that your current president is a detriment to your country internally and externally.

Right now America has real problems. For young people, for people who need health care, etc. Isolationism is reasonable because the US has really screwed up in the Middle East and other places. Perhaps other countries should take the lead.

He isn't looking to free up wealth by withdrawing from international institutions so he can help the poor and sick though. He is still interfering in the middle east and ripping support away rather than slowly withdrawing. His focus is Trump not America.

I agree totally. But sometimes in looking out for himself he also looks out for American interests. He does have ideas and policy interests. He ran on getting out of the Middle East and foreign involvements. The reasons he is still there are based on his advisory council.

You are right what's best for him does often overlap with what's best for corporate America. He has however shown a tendency to abandon policies or overturn past administrations policies with churlish abandon. That can't be good. Ego driven politics always ends badly.

I'd argue that both political parties have sold out to corporate interests. I genuinely believe that our current democratic party is far more in the pocket of corporate interests. That's why even in our American left, Progressives and those who supported Sanders also disdain DNC.

Is he churlish? Yes. Does he have any experience in foreign affairs, diplomacy? No. He's a Manhattan businessman. A lot of his success in regards to the economy and trade deals. And people like a thriving economy and employment over his narcissism and personality.

Also, his spontaneity and erratic behavior at times works well in keeping countries and others off guard, even if it's not something clever he's intended. So there are benefits to his behavior.

Maybe short term but like a bad salesman you may get the initial sale but folks don't come back. (poor analogy perhaps but close)
