When the leader of your country pretends everything's fine. Announces those saying it isn't are perpetuating a hoax and doesn't follow the guidelines himself. Then you aren't being led but misled. This is a national crisis and your national leader is taking no responsibility.

He didn't say the virus was a hoax but that the media's reporting on it was. As it turns out those were the alarm bells he should have been listening to and acting upon. He continued to downplay and bullshit. Lives are being lost as a direct result of that period of inaction.
