Validation of that nature, like anything, can be addictive. Some people are wired in such a way that any words make them feel better, regardless how genuine or sincere. Social media can sometimes make one feel lonely when they believe they're not part of the conversation.

I guess what makes me nuts is when everyone posts the latest “tell me I’m pretty/wonderful” meme and it’s like, how am I supposed to do that for 20 people in a meaningful way? Because if I’m going to do it, it’s going to be sincere. But it bugs me to ignore them, too.

And I feel like, don’t they look around and see everyone else doing it and feel the words cheapened? Or is any attention good attention? Because, yes, it’s my hangup about leaving people ignored, I hate doing it but I have my own meager sanity to preserve.
