Parliament wants to pass the Brexit bill and ratify the deal. That’s what a 30 vote majority on 2nd Reading means. The government’s timetable was defeated because MPs want 2-3 weeks to consider the detail of the bill. That’s what an extension would be for.
I certainly wouldn't disagree with you regarding your views on a future relationship with the EU. The fact is though this current deal and the PD is no path to any of that. I suspect you'd want it amended substantially given the opportunity.
