If a 2nd referendum resulted in 52-48% in favour of remain but on a smaller turnout - what would happen then? Genuine question

If, as it should be, it was legally binding then A50 would be immediately revoked. Likewise if the leave option wins that should immediately be implemented. It needs to be an informed and untainted process.
