It is not the role of parliament to prevent the government from governing by blocking a general election for cynical reasons. It should either vote for an election or have a vote of no confidence. Many people are starting to detest the actions of our current parliament.

It's the role of parliament to do what's best for the country as a whole. The cynical reason BoJo wanted an election is so a no deal Brexit could slip through unchallenged. His minority government doesn't set the agenda.

This parliament has voted against everything and in favour of nothing (except the Brady amendment). We need an election to break the stalemate. The current situation is toxic.

An election won't do that. The issue is Brexit so a referendum would.

So we have 6 months of toxic uncertainty while a new referendum is organised that parliament has voted against and the government would be against. How will that happen ?

6 months to resolve an issue affecting the country for generations? Yes.

How would it be organised if parliament has repeatedly voted against it ? There are clear positions from the political parties - anyone who wanted another referendum or revoke could vote for Labour or Lib Dem’s

Choosing an election over a referendum to resolve Brexit is like knocking down your house to unclog your drains.

You still haven’t said how a referendum could be achieved if parliament has voted against it and the current government would not support it.

By parliament getting behind a referendum or making any deal conditional upon one. This seems increasingly likely. As for the current they do not hold an overall majority.
