Absolutely right - we’re in this mess because the EU has no incentive to make this work thanks to the Benn Act.

You’re assuming No Deal is the EU’s worst outcome. But it’s not. Preserving the integrity of the Single Market and the unity of member states is paramount for them. No Deal threats are not as effective as negotiating leverage as a Brexiteers like to believe.

I’m not assuming anything! I’m stating, quite simply, the Benn Act makes these “negotiations” a complete farce and it’s hypocritical to lay the blame at Boris Johnson’s doorstep!

This "deal" would have been rejected regardless of the Benn act. Fortunately it can be worked on during the extension. Do or die helps no one.

“worked on” by whom?? The LDs want to revoke Art. 50 and Labour (messed up as always) want to negotiate a watered down version and then campaign against it in a Referendum! So what’s the point of tying up the PM’s hands?

The point is no deal will damage the country. Disproportionately affecting the poorest and most vulnerable. An extension followed by a legally binding referendum is the only way to move forward. This will affect generations it needs time.

“the point is” knowing there is a real probability of a backing for a deal in our Parliament, the Eurocrats will actually play ball. Have no doubts, a referendum will result in riots - especially if it ends up a narrow victory for Remain!

I have serious doubts that there will be major riots. I have no doubt, however, that the UK will suffer in the event of a no deal. Deal is the best outcome the only alternative is remain. A referendum will ascertain the country's view on that.
