The UK is proposing a customs border between NI and Ireland along with associated checks. This is something the EU and Ireland have always said they would reject (and the UK used to oppose too). Therefore it is not a surprise the EU and Ireland have rejected the proposal.

Replying to @SamuelMarcLowe @IanDunt
The UK has always said that we will leave on WTO terms if there is no deal. We will not surrender Northern Ireland or Brexit By refusing to work towards eliminating a border you are breaking the GFA, not keeping the UK or Northern Ireland in the EU or Customs Union.

Give us a general election and we'll turn it into a Tory majority. We have more millions than you do. People are fed up with obstructionists trying to block our democratic decision to leave the EU.

Don't need one. We've made our decision. If Varadkar's arrogance means the EU can't agree to a reasonable compromise deal then we leave on WTO terms. Our decision was "LEAVE and take back control" and WTO does that.pic.twitter.com/qsgWiC5Dtb

No. We're leaving the EU because that's what we voted for. We will NOT "pipe down". We will not be bullied into giving up our democratic rights.
