Well you'll be shocked to learn it's not. We live in a representative democracy and those people acting are our (currently) democratically elected representatives.

Is any of that representative vs delegation stuff codified in law? Because right now I'd love an election because my MP has change rosette colour a few times since I voted for her and I feel voiceless

Much of it is common law. The supremacy of parliament was most recently upheld by the supreme court. You are right though an election is certainly required. The minefield of Brexit, however, makes when pretty contentious.
