It is Brexit. We leave the EU - That’s all the Brexit referendum asked.

But that's the point - it is leaving IN NAME ONLY. That is NOT what the referendum asked. That really isn't so difficult to understand is is?

The referendum asked if we should leave the EU. It didn’t ask anything about the manner of the leaving. Leaving under May’s deal is a legal departure from the EU. That leavers don’t think it does enough doesn’t make it any less legally valid as a mechanism for departure.

It's substance of Brexit that's important and why so many who voted Leave are angry. To suggest May's deal is fine because it's a 'legal departure' is just playing silly word games. Ref was binary - Leave meant Leave, not partial Leave.

So if it’s the substance of Brexit that’s important we need to go back to what leavers promised before the referendum. So what version of leaving provides 350m per week that we can spend on the NHS? What version has us sign trade agreements across the world?

Leave was about control - laws, borders, money and yes trade deals. Bus clumsy but not wholly wrong. £350m was what we did not control. In theory all could have gone to NHS. In reality only net cont element could. Need to replace EU grants but in UK focused non-dictated way.

The words on the bus actually said “We send the EU £350 million a week. Let’s fund our NHS instead.” Now you can argue if you want that this is a promise to spend £350 million extra every week on the NHS, but it didn’t actually say that, did it?pic.twitter.com/ZrGtCDl96n

Spot on!! It was just Remain trying to twist the story. We would absolutely be able to provide more funding to the NHS. That was no lie at all!!

We don’t send 350m to the EU, so where’s the extra revenue coming from? What EU laws are we losing on leaving? What’s the solution to the Irish Border that doesn’t violate the treaties that we’ve signed? If May’s deal isn’t Brexit, what Brexit does all those promised things?

We DO send 350m a week to EU. Some comes back with EU-dictated conditions in the form of grants, but we are significant net contributors to EU budget. So that is where the funds come from.

We DON'T pay in 350 million a week. The rebate comes off in advance making it 250 million. The grants we then get back make the net amount to the exchequer about 172 million a week. The bus was a lie.
