I agree. This purposefully confusing Dr Nurse thing does not help patients. It allows for more mediocrity in one of the most fragile spaces, the exam room and hospital ward.

The nursing board needs to get a reign on the quality of education and stop pushing for independent practice. Push for educated mid-levels who work with physicians to see the less complex patients and are supervised. That's what's safe and helpful for access to care.

Independent practice is a safety issue.
And this was before the fake nursing scandal some of who are NPs now (this has been confirmed in some of the court documents)

There are 24 states with independent practice which means after 62 days of psych they complely are practicing on their own seeing adults and children. Even in some of the "collaborative" states. Physicians are just signing notes and not truly colloborating or supervising.

1. No it doesn't account for nursing school as training to be a clinician that diagnosis and prescribed medication because that's not what nursing school teaches.
2. I see NPs and PAs for my own health care so anti NP isnt accurate

A Psych NP averages about the 600 hours of clinical experiences. That's 62.5 eight hour days. An adult psychiatric residency is 4 years.... Definitely not just 8 hour days. (more like 12 plus call). A child fellowship is those 4 years plus 2 more.
