The book of Ecclesiastes is the realest and most depressing book in the Bible. Also the most realistic book in the Bible that can be recommended for any young man. And finally the most philosophical book in the Bible and the best source of spiritual stoicism.

All I can say is if you are 100% Nigeria focused startup. Let 2020 be the year you start scaling. Scale everywhere as fast as you can afford to. Prioritise that. All this politics this politics that. Life is too short to not Diversify. Remember devaluation is still coming.

Gojek, an Indonesian ride hailing app's valuation exceeded $9 billion last year. You say we can't use okada in Nigeria "because it is a sign of poverty". Okay Indonesia's GDP per capita is $3,846.86, while Nigeria's is $1,968.56.

I've never believed that "Nigeria is uniquely blessed and favored by God". First of all, God has no favorites. Secondly, that isn't how God works, if you want a functioning nation, you, not God, will have to make it happen.

Even IF God has a Favourite, I'm certain it's definitely not Nigeria.

Nigeria is governed by two principles. 1. "Manage it like that" (MILT). 2. "I cannot kill myself". You can see it in this administration's approach to national security issues - kidnapping etc.

You remember when they said once Lagos aligns with the center, it would become the next Dubai??? Yes, Tech enthusiast and entrepreneurs drove that stupid narrative.. By tomorrow, the tech ecosystem would potentially lose more than $50m investment.. Volenti non fit Animals.

Politics in Lagos is rigid and power is embedded. Regulatory risk is a serious thing. Policy makers have such a huge responsibility to play in creating an enabling environment. Entrepreneurs cannot innovate their way out of policy distortions all the time - let alone Lagos.

God loves us equally, but those of us in Africa have to be extra careful, as we are not "God's favorites" - what this means is that we are one silly mistake away from mass poverty, mass hunger or genocide. History hasn't been kind to Africa, let us not tempt our fates.

When you talk about Nigeria and "market size" - remember that Egypt now has 100 million people, and it is right next to serious money in Europe and the Gulf. Also remember that Ethiopia has more than 100 million people too. Nothing remarkable about merely having people.

"God will help us" I told him we've been saying the same thing for 30 years and nothing has happened. Do you think God will come down from Heaven and give you 24 hours electricity? In 30 years, has anyone in Nigeria organised a popular protest on poor power supply?

OPay tried to start a bus service in Lagos, it was killed. So let nobody tell you this recent ban is about "safety" as the buses OPay wanted to bring were a lot safer than the ancient (but protected by Government) danfos on our roads.

People raised $5 million from VCs to set up a ride hailing app in Lagos, Nigeria. The Lagos Government just killed their business, with little warning. So what do you think is going to happen next funding round? Why would a VC invest in Nigeria, not Kenya or Ghana?

I just a watched horrific video of the Chairman of CAN in Adamawa being beheaded by Boko Haram. They removed his clothes, put him in a sand pit, forced him to kneel in it & chopped off his head. Boko Haram are from the pit of hell & the personification of pure & unadulterated evil.

Americans don't like Mexicans - and you believe they'll like Nigerians? Don't aim to be liked, aim to be "respected". Mexico is $1.15 trillion economy, if they keep growing, one day Americans will respect them. With our current economic prospects, nobody will respect us.

Uber provided employment for 88,000 drivers in Colombia & a service to 2.3m users. The government said it should have registered itself as a transport company in Colombia & had repeatedly refused to do so. Read SuperPumped. Transportation is a global battle ground for regulation

Americans do not like the Chinese, but they respect the Chinese. Americans do not like Nigerians - and they also do not respect Nigerians. You can't get people to "like" you, but at least get them to respect you.
