NEW: The designers leading Elon Musk’s Blue verified project are out, along with the lead web engineer. Many Twitter employees who maintained critical infrastructure have resigned. This is going to look like a very different company tomorrow.

Very American to create a society so dangerous for kids that they literally can't be left alone & then punish moms for it.

Mom has 8 yo walk 1/2 mile home. Cops called. One asks: "Would you do this again?"
"I said, 'I don't know,'" recalls Wallace. "That's when the cop replied, 'Okay, I'm going to have to arrest you.'"
He proceeded to handcuff her in front of the kids.

I like this trend of painting"unauthorized" crosswalks.
Cities almost always rush to erase them. That shows local agencies *can* move quickly to change streetscapes -- they just choose not to when residents request safety improvements. People should know that!

Seems good, though it'd be best to have a standard fee instead of custom deals, and even better if we get the funds from taxes instead of new home buyers & renters.

Last year we lost the battle to have @SausalitoPolice issue a citation to an at-fault driver who hit a child in a crosswalk.
Update: @CityofSausalito traffic citations (non-parking) issued over all of Q3 2022: **2**

I support getting rid of the DMV, but like twitter.com/jeffreytumlin/ it's trying to pass the buck to the state when we haven't done nearly enough for housing or traffic injuries at the city level

Today I introduced a resolution calling on the state to turn the parking lot at a California Department of Motor Vehicles field office on Fell St into a 100% affordable housing site. This is a great site for hundreds of affordable homes! kron4.com/news/san-franc

A brutal hit-and-run has left legendary SF muralist and All Over Coffee illustrator Paul Madonna with displaced organs, a collapsed lung, and shoulder and leg injuries that will have him in a wheelchair — and unable to create artwork — for a while.

Good afternoon, San Francisco. I am attending a hearing at the Board of Supervisors on the 2022 housing element update. Supervisor Mar says, "I expect this to be a long hearing." He called for the hearing along with Supervisor Melgar and Supervisor Stefani.

My latest column: 30 people have died this year in San Francisco traffic, showing the city’s plan to eliminate traffic deaths by 2024 is failing. That’s why is calling on City Hall to make SF a “safe speeds city” by quickly lowering speed limits.

I feel like I’m a better, more creative photographer when I’m able to take public transit instead of drive to work. I used to take MUNI to every assignment when I was at the Examiner and found myself taking a lot more street photos and finding more inspiration.

My colleauges in the Capitol press corps must be just as cognizant of this when we ask Fetterman questions in the halls, just as we are to Tammy Duckworth in her wheelchair. That doesn't mean we don't have to ask tough questions. Rather, doing so will allow us to get answers

Two things we need to get out of the way:
1) John Fetterman has a suit and will wear it to the Capitol.
2) He is still recovering from a stroke and has lingering auditory processing challenges. The way Hill reporters are used to yelling questions at Senators will not work here. twitter.com/igorbobic/stat…

And it begins...
Texas has filed a bill that would make "consenting to gender affirming care" child abuse with prison sentences for parents.
HB672 will mean a mass rounding up of trans kids if passed.
It is the most horrifying piece of anti-trans legislation I've ever seen.

The price-to-income ratio measures typical local home values against annual household incomes.
An area is considered affordable when its ratio is below 3;
severely unaffordable when it's over 5;
and when it is over 7, homeownership is essentially out of reach.

This is horrifying. The Iranian parliament votes overwhelmingly (227-63) to execute the 15,000 protesters they already arrested.
These were peaceful protestors simply seeking the right to basic justice and autonomy. Unacceptable and barbaric.

Let's be clear. Eli Lilly should apologize for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make Eli Lilly's CEO obscenely rich.
