    I wish unlimited PTO threads weren't dominated by people that have never actually worked somewhere with it spreading FUD they read in hacker news comments. I took an ~6weeks/year off at Uber with unlimited PTO, no questions asked. It was great not having to track/manage PTO days

    It's always interesting to read the rulings behind these things and understand the commission's perspective. To put this in perspective, this fine is more than Uber's contribution to the Prop 22 campaign.

    Agree, people forget that most of twitter/politics is just posturing from people trying to convince the masses to support their cause. Moderate opinions don't spread as quickly. Easier to straw-man to stir debate and RTs.

    SF Bay Area will still be a magnet for a meaningful proportion of the most talented and ambitious people in the world. Some people will leave. But amazing people will take their place. The short-term of SF might look weak, but the long-term is still very strong.

    Only California, North Dakota, and Oklahoma ban non-competes. Many other states have tried but failed (including WA, my home state). Would be interesting if FL can get this through.
