After being chilled to the bone reading 'Invisible Women' I HAD to add female lack of toilet access to development lessons. Y9 explored 2 case study extracts from this fantastic resource: 14-year-olds tackling a taboo topic head-on!

Today I ran a CPD session on setting effective homework using 's 'Mode A vs. Mode B' homework concept, drawing ideas from Tom's blog: The resources for anyone interested: *Disclaimer: H/w examples mostly geog, sorry!

Created one of these excellent 'retrieval practice' picture prompt starters to recall globalisation info with my year 12 class while we move on to study coasts. Thank you so much for this fab idea . Template here:

Have been thinking about how the spread of the coronavirus is possibly a negative side effect of being switched on/a global hub? This map is going to be the starter of my year 12 globalisation lesson as a result.

Runners with long, thick hair ... I need your help. I’m training for a half marathon and this vital aspect of my training just hasn’t fallen into place yet 😂 How do you wear your hair while running and why does it work for you?

Peer assessment with impact? We ‘demystified’ the mark scheme band descriptors by providing language that students might be more able to attribute to each level. Just LOOK at the difference it made to the quality of feedback students gave one another.

This simple shift away from “ask and go” to “allow thinking time for all” is something I will try to use today. As pertinent and useful as ever, . Thanks for flagging, !

My PGCE student and I both wore THE spotty Zara dress today. To say that the students couldn’t cope is an understatement ... “Miss, did you both plan it?” “Do you have a WhatsApp group to organise wearing the dress?” “Are you best friends?” “Are you sisters?”

Superb podcast for any after current thinking about issues such as Putin’s power going unchallenged, the privilege and prejudice of European political stereotyping, and sand mining; is it one of the world’s least sustainable resources?

My year 9s just came up with such a simple way to remember the distinction between lava and magma and I can’t believe I didn’t think of it myself 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Love it!

My lovely step-brother recently won the UCL IRDR academic prize for his excellent master’s thesis on disaster risk management, focusing on exploring the impact of humanitarian volunteering on one’s psychological well-being. What a guy! 🥇

Orrrrrrrrr we could utilise the ideals behind ’s Doughnut Economics and try to sustainably meet our needs without overshooting our ecological boundaries?

This is going straight in my first lesson back with year 12. Not sure of the best way to link it to the spec, but it’s too cool not to share it with them!
