Not saying we shouldn't test but now we have more than 100,000 test kits and our docs are running out of PPE. Also, mass testing is great in theory, but BSL2 facilities don't grow on trees. These kits only work if we have the resources to run them.
Testing is not an option. Ever. As part of _ANY_ plan or strategy. None. Get it through your head please. Don't link lack of PPE with testing.
That's easy for countries with high GDPs to say. We get money for PPEs and medical care from the same pot we have for testing. We don't STOP testing, we just have to think about how we spend the money properly and prioritize.
I think we must conserve our resources and wait for the vaccine. That's where we should spend the bulk of our money

More facilities HAVE opened but its still a hard test to do and we use up PPE on PUIs while waiting.
Here in North America, you just can't go directly to testing centers. You need to be assessed by the family physician first if qualified or not. They prioritize the testing to those who are symptomatic and travelled recently.
That is Singapore approach. Except they started it on Day 2 from the time Wuhan notified WHO of their epidemic.
