I bought 's debut album after seeing him live on Friday night and I am very very into it:
Watched some of the excellent Fanny: The Right To Rock over lunch and I think more people need to know they fronted a campaign encouraging more British youngsters to drink tea

Couldn't work out how to climb up to a shrine at the top of an icy rock so went to the nearest Skyview Tower and hopped across about a dozen sky islands so I could glide down to it. There was probably a much easier way of doing that but fuck it, it was very satisfying

In fact I can tell from the date that copy of Loveless wasn't for me, as I already had one - it was for my then girlfriend, now wife, as her birthday was the next day. We'd only been going out for a month at that point

I had to do a speed awareness course and, as a famous actor, it was really humiliating…no one recognised me.

Maybe the Conservatives might consider looking for a leader who can answer questions he doesn't want to answer without losing his rag at the impertinence of the oiks. Cameron and Johnson were also terrible at this.

Having just binned an IKEA chest of drawers because all the drawers had irreparably buckled under the weight of the contents, I'm glad to see the replacement has these simple metal supports under each one. Do wish they'd thought of this ten years ago tho

thinking about the guy who played BOB on "Twin Peaks" & how he was initially a set dresser... imagine showing up to work, wandering into a shot by accident & the boss is like "you are so scary & disgusting that this tv show is about you now"

I have to say this has to be one of if not the biggest PR blunder I've ever seen any industry make.
What in God' name were they thinking about. "I know, our customers hate us so let's tell them we want to charge them an extra £10bn." WHAT?!

I love Queer Eye but they urgently need training on neurodivergence because if I have to sit through them shaming one more very probably undiagnosed autistic person for not being able to eat vegetables or dressing for comfort I’m going to flip a table

There's something quite heartening about that. He wasn't born with the ability to play face-melting guitar solos. He just worked at it.

Terrific interview with Love's Johnny Echols in . Love his account of playing with Hendrix in 1964 and 1965 and saying he was "a so-so guitar player, a journeyman" and then being astonished in 1967 to find how shit-hot he'd become. He'd just practiced a lot.

I interviewed Martin Amis for the last edition of Word magazine in 2012. My job was to get him to divulge lessons he’d learned in life. He was surprisingly attentive, kind, not what I expected. I bet these words washed past me then. They don’t now. (I turned 45 in April.)

gotta say, when someone advocating for AI describes the future with something resembling "human-written books won't disappear, they will be like artisanal bread" that legitimately sounds like a hellscape of the worst shit. Like it does not sound remotely appealing to me.

So I got my dad a motorised pepper grinder, where all you have to do is tilt it and voila. He told me it's the best thing I've ever given him. For his 50th birthday I spent six months tracking down his childhood schoolmates, recording their memories and compiling a video package.

As I get older I find it hard to take my own life too seriously but I find it harder everyday to understand why anyone, especially those with power, would expend energy on making other people’s lives more difficult… Just be and let others be too. Kindness is transformative.

Shat myself while out walking - pulled off my boxers and lightly buried them in a wood. A year or so later, a body was discovered in the same wood. Thinking my soiled kecks might be found as 'evidence', I went to the police station and explained. They're probably still laughing.
