Holy moly #LastOfUsHBO episode 3 is one of the finest bits of TV making I've seen in a long time. Such noble commitment to storytelling to spend almost the entire runtime filling out a bit character's backstory. Wonderful stuff.

Randomly encountered this story about Rio Tinto mining corp destroying 46,000 year old Aboriginal cave dwellings in Australia. Absolutely astonishingly shit behaviour. Utterly inexcusable.
Can't think of a TV series that feels like it has come so close to being good by dint of having solid casting, script, effects and a general sense of effort having been put in yet the end result feel so rushed and hollow and badly edited as His Dark Materials. So close yet far.

Oh, and if it somehow wasn't scripted, Quentin and Andie are two of the biggest idiots I've ever encountered. It's just basic maths and Arie even said 'i was recruited' at the end. Urgh.

Ok, just finished it. What on earth was that clearly scripted tosh!? It was always nonsense to have celebs on it but to try and engineer an ending in that way was totally lame. Maybe the UK version was engineered too but at least it wasn't so blatant.

Is it me or in #TheTraitorsUS, the traitors could've just systematically voted off the last three faithfuls? It was down to six people with three traitors and three faithfuls. Ergo, just team up and vote for each faithful one by one. Feels like a setup that it didn't happen.

How anyone that so vehemently backed Brexit can think to lecture anyone else on economic policy is beyond me. Biggest economic self-own in yonks.

Spent years grappling with terrible drops in gaming performance on my PC, mainly while playing . Dropped frames, stuttering, missed key presses, etc. Turns out it's Windows real-time virus scan kicking in in the background. The solution? Disable it while gaming.
Sad to see Jacinda Ardern step down. Been an inspiring world leader pretty much since the off. Handled multiple crises with dignity, empathy and professionalism. Here's hoping the political pendulum doesn't swing hard back the other way.

Jeez, the second series of Happy Valley is extra specially grim. The whole policeman murderer storyline feels one story thread too many.

Feel like there needs to be a big push to teach the public that 'the internet' is not their crappy home Wi-Fi connection. Curently trying to compare broadband providers and every 1 star review just complains about getting no Wi-Fi signal. This stuff's been around 20+ years ffs.

Having only ever read the first book, it's hard to tell if the second and third Dark Materials books just drop off massively in quality/interest or it's just the BBC TV show that's so utterly uncompelling. Whole thing feels so rushed and badly explained.
This is more labour and energy intensive, slower and less pleasant than a tram or underground train.
This isn’t the future, it’s a regression on what we had in the early 20th century!

Sad news: After 7 years of medical training, my good friend has been struck off after one minor indiscretion.
He slept with one of his patients and now can no longer work in the job he loves. What a waste of time, training and money. A genuinely nice guy, and a brilliant vet.

Catching up on World's Strongest Man and seeing how tough Adam Bishop's group was, man that would've been hard for him to take. Comfortably inside the top ten for most events across all the heats but up against that group and against Trey Mitchell for the stone off. Oof.

Anyone know what the white connector here is called? It's the PCB end of a USB cable and looking to replace it.

Can confirm. Truly excellent investments.

Love my Aeron chair. Why? Value/reparable. Had it since 1996. Replaced a broken seat. Got silicone wheels for it. Replaced the air shock on it twice (the other day in fact). It's like a brand new chair. Worth the investment. Buy used. No need to spend $1000 #gamedev #IndieGameDev

Sad to see the latest Jack Ryan is even more preposterous than ever. Mostly enjoyed the first season but the show just seems to want to play ever faster and looser with reality.
Never understood the dislike for them. Bloomin useful.

The violent reaction in Paris to the recent attacks is truly baffling. There's literally nothing to be gained, only more people turned towards the cause of the attacker.
The "who cares about views" takes doing the rounds do make me laugh. Elon may be doing more harm than good but it's still possible to do right sometimes. It's a platform that's all about shouting into the void and hoping someone's listening, so makes sense to tell you if they are
Sorry, but is this supposed to be an article? I know The Verge's redesign is... shall we say challenging?.. but this format is utterly unreadable.

Here is my annual reminder that if Santa is bringing a games console, Santa might want to plug it in and turn it on and get all the updates done now, in advance, so that it is all ready to go on the big day.

The arrogance of the Qatari delegation to make the captain of a world cup winning side wear an outfit that has no significance to him over his national football kit during his ultimate moment of triumph. His photos of that moment forever tainted. One final insult.

Wow, twitter really has shit the bed. Almost my entire normal timeline has gone due to so many people quitting the platform. Add in all the right wing stuff constantly being shoved in my face and there's almost nothing positive left to engage with. No longer worth checking in.
Well, that result tonight feels like vindication for the atrocious penalty decision for the second goal in the team's previous game. #FIFAWorldCup
Urgh, that penalty for Brazil's second goal. Infuriating. How's a defender supposed to know that an attacker is running in from behind him like that!? Totally against the spirit of the game.

Just had the most sour/ammonia-smelling sour dough. Very strange experience. Was tasty but now have a lingering sensation of that ammonia sort of taste/smell. Not something I've ever encountered before, let alone from a shop-brought, pre-packaged product.

Anyone have any experience of using google drive/storage for bulk backup of your data? Currently pay for another backup service and pay a little extra for Google storage for phone photo backups. Wondering if it might work to consolidate them.

It’s not so much the decision as the way it was made which angers me. is telling us that moderation - the only really vital job in running a social network - is dead at Twitter. There are no rules and anything goes - abuse, scams, lies - as long as a vox pop says yes

There's been much talk of Intel's 13th gen CPUs having stolen a march on AMD thanks to continued support for older DDR4 memory. I'd be super interested to know if people are actually considering taking this upgrade route and if this is reflected in Intel 13th-gen sales.
