The White House knew this was the anniversary of her murder and of the lowest point of his presidency. They held a photo op with white supremacist bikers and sent out a dog whistle about reverse racism. They doubled down – and the press let him get away with it. Again.
Think about what any sane administration would do to recognize this occasion. They’d host civil rights leaders, invite Heather’s family, have speakers of different faiths. These people hosted a guy with an SS tattoo.
This wasn’t a coincidence either. They obviously knew the importance of the date, given the tweet. And remember, these are the same people who “honored” Holocaust Remembrance Day with a statement that intentionally omitted any reference to Jews or anti-Semitism.
Trump is literally a Nazi sympathizer. He used to keep a book of Hitler’s speeches by his bed. He thinks his German blood makes him superior. His policies and personnel hires reflect this. It’s shocking. It needs to stay shocking to us.
But the press consistently gives him a pass as long as long as he makes the slightest effort to be discrete. He can use the most blatant, threadbare dog whistles and they’re all too happy to play along. To revert to a default state of ignorance on the “question” of his bigotry.
They don’t want to talk honestly about his racism. It’s not a comfortable subject for them. That’s bad enough with the usual amount of bigotry in our politicians. With a literal Nazi sympathizer in charge, it’s horrifying and dangerous beyond words.

45 @realDonaldTrump specifically chose the anniversary date as a reminder for us all regarding whose side he actually supports. There's clearly no doubt right now on the issue of him being a racist, alt right backer, b/c he's shown the whole world now where his loyalty is
