Proposal to close this charter loophole would save $80-90 million. It would benefit many profoundly underfunded PA districts. And yes, the state should be funding more than 22% of total PA special ed costs. Charters & districts should join forces on that.

Well, given who runs the organization & the funders, it is clear they are more interested in following an ideologically driven agenda than actually identifying underlying causes and addressing them.

Seems that this organization is simply sticking with their original message that progressive cities cause bigger black-white achievement gaps, ignoring actual underlying causes which others, including me, pointed out weeks ago!

As if we needed districts spending more money on school safety and tech...to say nothing of the social cost of constant surveillance:

Dear Principals, If the first time you are outwardly showing appreciation for your teachers is during Appreciation week by giving them a staff breakfast or candy bars with poems on them, you aren’t truly “appreciating” your teachers.

Why don't charter schools employ nurses, librarians, and counselors at same rate as public schools? Not having counselors & nurses means not every child can go to a charter school.

Charter schools spend over $900 more PER PUPIL on administration than PA school districts. Why is that? Is this why charter CEOs are up in arms about proposed cuts to charter funding?

When uses the term "government school" as he did in the , he is using the same language as the White Citizens Councils, a White supremacist association committed evading desegregation through "moderate" means. The term is racist, pure and simple

These guys have no interest whatsoever in protecting the rights of LGBTQ kids, or low income & minority kids. They have no interest in supporting tax policies that would actually provide funding sufficient for high quality private, public or charter schools for any of these kids

Defending LGBTQ discrimination by arguing that private school choice benefits Black and Brown students is an ironic argument.

The relationship between school finance and “choice” is more complex than either side would generally like to admit. But there have been plenty of times when pols have used the “success” of charters to justify cuts in K-12 funding. Example from NJ:

For some reason, many charter schools don't offer specialized care & attention to kids by providing a nurse, librarian, or counselor. ALL schools should be able to offer these support personnel. See policy brief:

Researchers consistently find Reading is one of the most underfunded districts in the country. Same with Philly and some others in PA. Lack of funding by lege is responsible for many issues districts are facing.
