More than 25 million people in this country have asthma. I'm one of them. Access to an ER can mean the difference between living and breathing, or a different outcome. But ERs are full. What about heart attacks? Strokes? Aneurysms? Gunshot wounds? Hell, even acute appendicitis?

It's not just COVID-19. It will be the horror atop horror when you and your loved ones can't access any kind of health care. Please stay home.

Exactly. The hospitals are so overburdened.

I'm stunned by the cruelty this year, Gwen. People are just so mean and selfish.

I’ve been thinking about the many thousands of people with things like as yet undetected stage 1 easier to treat cancer... will it be too late by the time they can get assessed?
-
Exactly. Our health care system wasn't super robust befor 2020 - it hasn't recovered from the spring - this is bad. I'm worried but trying to stay as well as I can mentally and physically...

100 percent. I've been telling everyone I know, if there's something you REALLY should have done before spring: GO NOW.

My dad had sepsis in August. High fever (naturally) and somnolent, difficulty breathy because of those two points. It took forever to get him to hospital bc EMTs had to PPE up before entering house and the remove all before driving off.
-
He survived but that was critical time that had to be wasted because they had to operate as thought it was COVID bc he had a fever (makes sense, don’t blame them!)
