No results. Do you remember Prop C? That money was supposed to fund a lot of these changes (which we identify as “direct action,” the opposite of bureaucracy) but it has remained stagnant. Clearly that funding is not being distributed, staffs are not being hired as promised. ..

As for zoning, it’s not at all a reach for the city to Mark a purchase and rezone it. You can even apply for those exceptions to be made to your business as a private citizen. SF had liscences GALORE that allow a diversity of businesses to operate in our tiny grid. The idea that

there is no wiggle room to create accommodations Js again, a bureaucratic trap that keeps money in the pocket of real estate, & tech monopolies that have bought our leadership for DECADES. In other big cities like Houston, Minneapolis, buying a building and filling it with beds

Not sure how long you’ve been here, but permits and red tape are endemic here. The building inspection dept is probably under Justice Dept investigation. The money is in the city’s accounts. A Minneapolis winter outside is a death sentence and we have more, and far worse off ppl.

No, I’m arguing with you because you seem to think this city’s politicians are going to have a revelation and become accountable. It doesn’t matter whether I think ppl (addicts or homeless) do or don’t deserve housing. It won’t happen here: it’s too expensive and too far broken.

I don’t care where the change comes from, just so long as something - anything - improves. I’ve lived here too long (25 years) and it’s only become worse, and more expensive, which is why I don’t vote for incumbents with one exception. You’re far more optimistic than I am.

family and even coworkers is how we make incremental changes. If all comes down to what you feel you’re capable of, and honestly, SF is such a small place, it’s easy to reach a wide group of people when you decide to practice having those conversations. We all have networks, and

more than ever, people are looking for the small ways they can be involved in big changes. You can introduce those ideas on fb or over dinner. It takes practice but it’s worth it.
