We had Peugeot station wagons when I was growing up and my most vivid memory is the burning-hot plastic seats after the car (un-air conditioned, of course) had been in the sun.
She said whaaat? Which is what you will say to yourself again and again when you read "Shy," Mary Rodgers's memoir, written with the estimable Jesse Green. Perhaps the juiciest of all Broadway memoirs.
Terrific summer genre picks from @EVincentelli@devikagirgayi@812filmreviews and me. Mine of course is an 80s slasher starring of course Adrian Zmed. Plus it’s free on Tubi, home of some wacko horror treasures. https://nytimes.com/2022/08/04/movies/summer-movies-streaming.html…
We ate something called an Apple Jesus in Glenwood Spring, CO, this AM — hybrid of muffin and cinnamon roll with sliced apples on top. Google only finds it at a bakery in Aspen. Does the Twitter hive mind know anything about this pastry?
My novel THE LAST POLICEMAN came out ten years ago this month. Which is weird because actually, in my head, it was basically yesterday.
Anyway, if you haven't had a chance, what a great time this would be to read it!

IF YOU'RE QUEUEING TO ENTER THE EU, IT'S BECAUSE YOUR PASSPORT HAS TO BE CHECKED /STAMPED TO PROVE YOU'RE NOT STAYING MORE THAN 90 DAYS

They spent quite a while discussing the drumming on "Night Shift," which made me re-listen to that track with even greater appreciation. Anyway, "Juju": stone-cold classic.
Way too easy to fall into rabbits holes with those damn podcasts. I totally lost sense of time listening to Budgie and Lol Tolhurst (from the Banshees and the Cure) discuss the Siouxsie album "Juju" — which they picked as her best, and I agree.
Is there a future for classical music in Lincoln Center’s summers? https://nytimes.com/2022/07/20/arts/music/lincoln-center-summer-for-the-city-mostly-mozart.html…
7. Violence: "I’ll be honest with you, dear reader: Dante was being kind of a dick when it came to designing this level.
9. Treachery: "The final circle is a frozen wasteland occupied by history’s greatest traitors. So…Washington, DC in February?"
Excerpts from a guide to Dante's 9 Circles of Hell on Penguin Random House's site:
1. Limbo: "You’ll have television, but all of the channels will be set to CSPAN."
5. Anger:"If playing pirates forever sounds like your idea of a good time, then the fifth circle can’t be too bad."
The original, which Dani did solo, was supposed to represent France at Eurovision 1975 but the French broadcaster thought the lyrics were too risqué and sent another singer.
One of my fave Peel sessions in 1989 was by the little known group Kit. It delights me you can find this stuff online. Perhaps we can get this up to 1000 listens? Enjoy.
