Liikennejärjestelmän kestävöittämisessä autokannan pienentämisen tulisi olla yksi kulmakivistä. "promoting active travel whilst ‘demoting’ private car ownership and use should be a cornerstone of strategies to meet ‘net zero’ carbon targets"

Merci pour tous les commentaires, bons ou encourageants. Le message important est que ceux d'entre nous qui marchent ou font du vélo (acoustique ou électrique) ont régulièrement une empreinte carbone plus faible. Études:

Missed that - good to see attempt to use life cycle emissions. On which basis, acoustic/e-bike would be about 10 times lower than EV, and 30 times lower than diesel ICE. Not🚀science but there you go:

If you see someone riding their bike today, give them a 👋or a 🙌, because there'll be a bit less CO2 in the air today. "Life cycle CO2 emissions decreased by −14% per additional cycling trip and decreased by −62% for each avoided car trip."

Transport is the UK’s most polluting sector, with petrol cars accounting for the bulk of emissions. Switching from to for even just one day a week can cut your carbon footprint by 3.2kg of CO₂.

Worth noting these are daily mobility-related life cycle CO2 emissions, averaged across 7 cities in Europe (incl. London). Over a year this can make a big difference. Sources: 👉cross-sectional study 👉longitudinal study

If electric cars will be cheaper to produce, they will probably also be cheaper to buy...👉more cars sold 👉more congestion. Electric cars are not the silver bullet that will keep our cities liveable.
