ETS must be feeling the
as more graduate schools move away from standardized test scores in the admissions process.
A "truly objective measure" isn't useful if what it measures is basically arbitrary. GRE scores are simply not a great predictor of academic success.

I’m glad ETS is feeling the heat & moving forward the conversation. This Vice article about the flaws & inherent bias of artificial intelligence in the GRE grading system was pretty eye-opening.https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/pa7dj9/flawed-algorithms-are-grading-millions-of-students-essays …

The only objective thing I know about the GRE is how objectively irrelevant it is

I also know it's expensive

Let me get this straight, there’s only ONE test and it’s administered by ONE company and it’s MANDATORY for a lot of schools and EXPENSIVE and it’s the ONLY true objective measure for admissions? Still? In 2019? I

The GRE is irrelevant and serves as a barrier to underprivileged and ESL students. No graduate school should be using the GRE

GRE scores are not predictive of PhD student success or research productivity. Plenty of literature out there to support this.pic.twitter.com/hPfnkxpQ1k

Academics love putting the word “objective” where it doesn’t fit. What is this test “objectively” a measure of? I believe in its ability to follow SOME metric well, but the metric is arbitrary and unilaterally benefits privileged socioeconomic classes. Not great for grad school.

Was thinking the same thing! Can't just claim that something's an objective measure without saying what it measures. We've all seen the articles and papers about the true 'usefulness' of the GRE.
