If I ever had a mastectomy I would choose tram flap no implants
-
If you choose not to use implants, I suggest
#DIEPflap#BreastReconstruction over tram flap. DIEP spares the rectus abdominis muscle (sit up muscle) This is the method I had. The key is finding a highly-qualified plastic surgeon to perform DIEP.

#BreastReconstruction options often discussed in binary: implant v autologous flap. 3rd option for select subset of pts: reverse tissue expansion. Relies on tiss expanders but ideally, temporarily. No perturbance of ANY musculature, unlike DIEP does a bit. https://journals.lww.com/prsgo/Fulltext/2018/02000/Breast_Reconstruction_with_Fat_Grafting_Using.22.aspx …Thanks. Looking forward to seeing the long term results on this. Post mastectomy pain isn’t talked about enough.

Why would anyone able to seach pubmed mislabel pre-pec as "largely untested"?? Quite a few leading plastic surgeons have all but abandoned sub-pec. FWIW, a 3rd option, fat transfer, for qualified patients, including those receiving radiation, exists. PMID: 28831365pic.twitter.com/Mz88z1FUlc
