Ours is the era of inadequate AI alignment theory. Any other facts about this era are relatively unimportant, but sometimes I tweet about them anyway.

Using Uber instead of Lyft from now on to help compensate for the unjust #DeleteUber meme. Uber was already opposing the #MuslimBan.

But not deleting Lyft because they did nothing wrong AFAIK, just donated to ACLU. Now is a time to be careful of which motives we question.

Or, y'know, just use whichever you like better as a service. Crazy idea these days.

Caring about the wrong--or right--actions of the companies you patronize, is also part of good market economics.

Self harm for the cause of "good market economics" is silly.

Uber and Lyft are equally bad, what tipped me off what the difference in PR regarding #MuslimBan

Uber used ill-gotten gains to buy Twitter ads while Lyft used ill-gotten gains to donate to ACLU.

Uber and Lyft both opposed EO and must be treated as allies in this battle until proven differently. Only Trump wins otherwise.

I only saw a company statement for Uber while I saw actual action from Lyft. Actions speak louder than words to me.

If you don't think public opposition is helpful, stop talking on Twitter.

So Uber helped, Lyft helped more, a misguided meme began to punish Uber, and "do not punish people for helping" takes priority.

For me, it was more about waiting for a reason to switch because they have been creepy by the past. Can't use both anyway.

Thank you. I feel like it was due to a weird miscommunication or misunderstanding. Uber's in the quasi-public service game.

They *can't* reduce mobility in a time of troubles, especially in a time of protest. It hurts the cause!

There was a taxi strike, and Uber went along with it instead of arguing--and that's the right decision in this type of crisis.

"went along with it"? Participating in a taxi strike means "not providing taxi services", not "lower your prices"

Travis Kalanick has no mouth, and he must scream. Turning off surge pricing means your drivers decide for themselves.

Surge pricing increases supply. By leaving surge pricing on, Lyft was strike-breaking (by default on a weird strike).

If Uber wanted to participate in the strike, they would have suspended service, just like they did in Austin

saying "they totally did join the strike, by not striking at all" is bogus neolib argument. Airport cabs are not price elastic!
