    Happening now: two people, Jazzy and Sam, who stood up for housing and have been targeted super aggressively by and are turning themselves in. Police have already tried to force Charter violating bail terms on them as a condition of amicable turn in.

    The actual costs are much higher. Hours spent planning & coordinating such an oversized response not included, same with staff that supported this from divisions not listed, then there's the salary of . Can't wait for you to get a look at the line by line expenses

    On a Friday afternoon, the City of Toronto has finally published costs on how much it cost to evict people in park encampments this summer. $840K for trespass enforcement, $357K for fencing, $792K for remediation. Grand total? A hair under $2 million.

    In the past few months, via Streets To Homes has actually been showing up with permanent housing offers and meaningful support for encampment residents at Dufferin Grove Park. Their efforts haven't housed folks yet, but it's important to note that this is new.

    let us know when you're gonna repeal the bylaws the police are enforcing

    It cost Toronto taxpayers $840,127.00 for 3 violent encampment clearings that simply pushed vulnerable people to our city’s laneways, streets and other parks. For the same cost, Toronto could’ve provided stable housing for 58 of these people in bachelor units at the CMHC average.

    The City admits they spent $2 million violently evicting about 60 people from the encampments in the parks. Imagine what we could have done with $2 million.

    To clarify, Thursday's Drop the Charges presser at Tory's condo wasn't organized by ESN alone, it was a coalition of encampment residents & supporters who showed up to evictions, particularly those who were arrested and/or seriously injured… 1/2

    Just in: Active Homelessness in Toronto jumped by another 200+ in August. The system is now 1700 beds (acknowledged) short. More like 2000 practically. continues to try to lie, beat, and arrest his way out of a fundamental and growing crisis.
