    More illegal logging in Okomu National Park, Edo State, one of s last rainforests, home to elephants & chimps. 213 logs impounded by marine police at Gelegele. Taking action against the armed gangs destroying natural resources.

    Good to see protecting the elephant which recently crossed from Benin Republic to Kwara State, and which is being harassed by people & is destroying crops. Surely best solution is to move this unfortunate animal to Old Oyo NP.

    It is with deep regret that we share that on February 8th a team of rangers was ambushed in W National Park, Benin. Initial reports tragically indicate several deaths & injuries. We are working closely with the Government to intensify safety in the region

    We're delighted to learn of another seizure by - 145kg ivory & 839.4 kg pangolin scales in Lekki Lagos - but dismayed by yet more evidence of this illegal -Asia trade; 4th major seizure in 13 months.

    Distressing to learn of continued illegal logging in Okomu NP and vandalism by criminal gangs. Home to some of Nigeria's last forest elephants. It is not too late for authorities to protect this precious forest & wildlife.

    I just spoke on the virtual summit on "saving the forest elephant" alongside , and . Gabon has the second biggest population in Africa, estimated at 95,000, including beach combing forest elephants like this in Pongara and Loango
