    We have investigated the case of the video footage of a maakanaa (grey heron) allegedly being killed inside a resort room. We can assure that the greyheron is not killed and we are working with the concerned resort in developing staff/visitor oriented awareness materials

    We are currently investigating a case going viral in social media regarding killing of a Grey Heron at Anantara Dhigu Resort. Grey Heron is protected under EPPA 4/93, and harming, capturing and killing of the protected species are prohibited by law.

    A total of 103 birds are protected under EPPA and all migratory birds are protected under migratory bird regulation. We would like to advise the pet traders and public in general to refrain from involve in this illegal trade of wildlife.

    Following the disturbing news of the anouncement made by R.Ungoofaaru council providing reward for culling of cats, we immediately intervened and wrote to council reminding them that it is a criminal offence to harm any animal and to consider more humane means to control cats.

    Clarification: There has been some misinterpretation of the tweet we made earlier today. "Hazardous zone" in the tweet refers to immediate location that was burnt down. All parameters we tested were within acceptable limits even at the location adjacent to the fire.

    Ambient air quality at the fire incident site on 22nd September. Eventhough all tested parameters are within acceptable range, it is still a hazardous zone and the public is advised to take all necessary precautions as per the guidance of authorities.

    Today we tested ambeint air quality at Majeedhiyaa school, the nearest school to the fire incident of Friday. As can be seen from the graph all parameters were within acceptable range. We thank WaterSolutions for the assistance provided.
