        I think it’s made it clear outside of the scientific community what we’ve been yelling about for years. Ignoring what scientists say while saying how much they trust scientists has always been a feature of American culture.

        It's certainly not a new phenomenon. But the way that social media offers a platform for all opinions, and the ease with which science denialists can engage with like-minded people, has propelled anti-intellectualism to new heights. It's now harder to fight than ever before.

        I’m a nurse and agree with everything pointed out on this thread, but I have to say I never thought it was this bad. I learned a lot about the ignorance and selfishness of people in the US in the last 8 months.
