The USA could destroy all of Iran’s airfields, nuclear reactor sites, mine all of its harbors, halt oil exports, and enforce brutal sanctions w/o putting troops in Iran. Iran would actually be devasted by conflict with the US. Damage to the US would only be proximate.

The American empire may fade away someday. Iran is not the country and today is not that day.
