Not credible at all. Very early on, with the fires still raging, sans any investigation, the authorities already blamed an "accident" due to restoration work and immediately ruled out arson and terrorism. Rubbish. Similar to 9/11 here- does anyone believe that official story?!?!

It is not credible that Yellow Vests did this, since they are probably more Catholic than most, but it is certainly possible to use a random crime to enact measures adversely affecting the Yellow Vests. Looting by North Africans has been used that way.

Maybe an accident, but it seems symptomatic of a decline in French order and competence, consequent on demographic change. I remarked to my French friend that Germans would have had a plan for such a fire and he said that in the 1950s the French too would have had such a plan.

I don't think they will blame it on yellow vests, some are trying with that odd video of the person in PPE. However this kind of event, like 9/11, will rally the people together somewhat behind Macron as he is able to use billionaire and corporate money to promise restoration.
