At least 20 Russian aircraft have been shot down in Ukraine, both jets and attack helicopters, experts tell BBC. That’s likely the most shot down since the Falklands War in 1982.

The video in the quoted tweet shows an attack on a civilian car that occurred a week ago, the aftermath of which was documented in the following graphic video. The elderly driver and passenger were both killed in what appears to be a totally unprovoked attack.

Ukraine’s defense intelligence directorate claims that the 1st Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 41st Combined Arms Army Major General Vitaliy Gerasimov was killed in Kharkiv. If true, this would mean the 41st CAA has lost two Deputy Commanders.

What is important to focus on now is that it isn't clear to me how Russia can translate military force into achieving the sustainable pollical solution it is seeking in Ukraine. That was true after the initial dash to Kyiv failed, and I doubt leveling Kyiv will achieve it. 5/

I always try to emphasize that we are only seeing part of what is going on in this war, and we shouldn't make strong conclusions until it is over. There were a number of important details about the 2nd Karabakh War that only became publicly known a year after it ended. 4/

I typically only share info from the Ukrainian MoD when it provides evidence. Ultimately, much of what we are seeing from this war is filmed by Ukrainians who are more willing to record and share videos of Russian troops than Ukrainian soldiers, which accounts for the mismatch.3/

I also think Russia's senior leadership set up the military for failure by giving it unrealistic political goals and little prior warning. We're seeing clear vulnerabilities in the Russian military, but that doesn't mean it would perform poorly in other scenarios. 2/

I'm trying to not give this impression, which I emphasize on podcasts. The Russian military is performing worse than expected, but it also isn't a paper tiger as some people are saying. Despite mistakes, the Russian military continues to advance and is inflicting heavy casualties
