Never have I questioned a life decision as much as my mid-pandemic decision to sign up for a part time masters to do alongside teaching full time ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Currently in the final stages of dissertation hell and omg I will be glad when this is done.

Hard to comprehend the scale of the flood disaster in Pakistan, the 5th most populated nation in the world.
Nearly 1400 dead, 1 million houses damaged or destroyed, and 50,000,000 people displaced.
1/3 of the country is underwater.

Great thread on social/cultural capital.๐๐ฝ
My Mum made me actutely aware from a very young age that not everyone has someone to help them navigate this mess...
(She now volunteers at CAB, to try and provide that support to others.)

I watched this tonight and it was incredible. Really enjoyed the performance and it's left the question of the climate crisis and how we will respond to it (or not) in the future... At what stage do we get people running things who know what they are doing?

Man gets up at Tory leadership hustings, denies climate change, gets warmly applauded. Liz Truss fails to correct him, is warmly applauded.

Tube on strike, I dawdled to Paddington on Friday. Passing the old wrought iron sign for Pizza Express, I was reminded of an event 30+ years ago, when I got caught up in a drama that resulted in a divorce, two marriages and many changed lives.
It began with a heart attack

THREAD. Here's my list of things that have worked. It is longer than I thought it would be.
1.Reading loads about the topics Iโm teaching.
2.Planning and scripting explanations.
3.Learning names and using them.
4.Apologising if I get a name wrong or mispronounce it.

I love when job vacancies claim they have a great benefits scheme when their benefits are listed like this:
โข28 Days Holiday
โขSick leave
โขMaternity leave
โขPension scheme
โข1 hour lunch break
These arenโt benefits babe. Youโve listed mandatory UK law. You have 0 benefits.

I had a stroke last Thursday while eating a sandwich. I didn't recognise it, the people I went to dinner with 4 hours later didn't recognise it, the doctor in A&E didnโt recognise it when I went in 6 days afterwards. My face, arm, speech were fine. So here are some extra tips
