A year ago, I submitted (with coauthors) my first ever comment on a published paper. The paper had not even received an issue number yet. Despite supportive reviews and top speed edits, it appeared online only today. What is the point? Science should be more reactive.

I should mention that the editor actually did a great job but the whole process was, I thought, overly cumbersome for everyone.

That's really interesting, thanks for sharing. The more I learn about EPMA, the more I understand how it can go wrong. It's a far cry from how it's described to you when first using it: "yea mate just point at something and it tells you what's it made of"

The ironic thing is that EPMA actually has a pretty good theoretical, experimental + technical basis. And it's still very non-trivial to get good numbers. Techniques that involve ablation - aaargh
